Acton Turville is a small parish within South Gloucestershire in the Cotswold Edge ward of the county which can date its history back to the 1086 Domesday Book when it was known as Achetone. It is located less than 6 miles from Chipping Sodbury and barely 17 miles from Bristol.  In 1894 the parish hosted the Beaufort Hunt race meeting which had become nomadic. The first meeting of the Hunt was held in the town of Malmesbury at Charlton Park in 1870, but the only occasion a meeting was held in Acton Turville, near Badminton, was on Tuesday 10th April 1894. The card consisted of seven races with the highlight being the Beaufort Hunt Cup.

There is little evidence of the previous course in the village, but the Beaufort Hunt still organises point-to-point meetings, although they are held at Oldbury on the Hill near Didmarton.
